"...another reason I'm intrigued with the hanged of Salem, especially the women, is that a number of them aroused suspicion in the first place because they were financially independent, or sharp-tongued, or kept to themselves. In other words, they were killed off for the same sort of life I live right now but with longer skirts and fewer cable channels." Sarah Vowell, The partly cloudy patriot.

All the cool kids are doing it...

The halloween costume meme, that is.

" If I were designing a [my blog title/pseud here] Halloween costume, it would consist of..."

AAYOR's rule:
[My Rule: Try to choose something representative rather than your most stylish/most interesting/most h.o.t. outfit].

If I were designing a shrinkykitten Halloween Costume it would consist of:
* funky boots - perhaps some fluevog cowgirl boots, or some frye boots. They have to be bog and clunky - slight platforms are good because I like to be tall.
* tights - perhaps black or brown with with tonal stripes or otherwise textured - or plain tights with the same colored crocheted tights over them.
* a very funky skirt. Find the craziest skirt you can at a vintage store - like a vintage ballgown or a wrap skirt that has some craxy applique on it - something super fun. Or, go to Anthropologie and get just about any skirt that is more fun. Ruffles, lace, layers, etc. are a bonus.
* a fairly simple jacket with some interesting details (but that don't compete with the skirt). Perhaps a cheongssam denim jacket, or a black blazer with some interesting details, a military jacket in an unexpected color or fabric. Simple, yet fun.
* a good blouse underneath - preferably with an interesting collar or cuffs to peek out (but nothing over the top).

Accessories (included):
* color in your eyebrows cuz mine are almost invisible
* a coat of black mascara
* berry red lipgloss
* a hair band worn on the wrist when inside, or pulling back the hair into a messy
bun when outside or working hard
* lots of cat fur strewn all over
* some cool brooch either from H&M or a vintage store on lapel
* a crazy funky scarf
* a dark denim jacket
* a funky watch - children's watches are a plus (current one is a sugarbunny watch, see below)
* a big crazy ring
* a very simple necklace - current one is a gold chain with a swarovski crystal on it.
* a huge messenger bag that is far too heavy to be healthy - but you have to have both your laptop and a good book on you at all times.
* if it's cold, a cap you crocheted yourself - it's a simple cap, but of course it have a huge crocehted flower on it.

man, altogether that sounds tacky.

Those bunnies look kind of evil... "Die, cake, die!" But still cute :)
And your outfit sounds very cool.

I think it's so awesome that you have a style, and it sounds like a cool one to me! I dress so generically... *sigh*

In other news -- a pair of shoes I bought LAST FALL on recommendation from you? My undergrads like them. I got compliments last semester, and I wore them on the first day of class this semester, and undergrads liked them, too!
