"...another reason I'm intrigued with the hanged of Salem, especially the women, is that a number of them aroused suspicion in the first place because they were financially independent, or sharp-tongued, or kept to themselves. In other words, they were killed off for the same sort of life I live right now but with longer skirts and fewer cable channels." Sarah Vowell, The partly cloudy patriot.

Unrelated advice sought...

Any advice for a present for my grandfather for his 90th birthday that I can get from Borders for under $15.00? I wanted to get him the kids' book _40 uses for Grandpa_, but the local Borders don't carry it. Any other ideas?

p.s. I'll tell you more details about what happened in my program when I'm able. I do have information - I just can't talk about it yet.

You could get him a really nice blank notebook, and paste in pictures of people in your family, keepsakes or whatever sorts of family 'stuff' your family holds onto. And/or write in some memories you have of time you spent with him as a kid...

If he reads a lot, they have some nice lighted magnifying devices...

If his eyesight is still really good, pick out a book for him that you have enjoyed lately and tell him why you enjoyed it.
